JusProgDNS Premium for schools and organisations – high performance with cost-sharing

The protection of children and young people should not be hindered by budget constraints or formal applications – which is why we offer JusProgDNS to schools and charitable organisations at cost price. As a non-profit organisation, we are not permitted to make a profit, nor do we wish to.

In addition to the costs of software development, maintaining the filter lists, and ongoing maintenance and support, we have, above all, very substantial server costs to cover. JusProgDNS, in particular, requires a constantly expanding server cluster across two data centres that comply with the GDPR and the CLOUD Act in Germany and are operated by local companies.

To enable schools and organisations to use JusProgDNS at cost price, we have set up a special service: JusProgDNS Premium – as a thank-you, offering enhanced performance

As a Premium school or organisation, you can use JusProgDNS with dedicated nameserver IP addresses (DoT/DoH with additional domains), where we ensure even better server specifications and thus more reliable performance, whilst making sure you always have sufficient capacity.

Of course, you can test JusProgDNS free of charge beforehand to ensure that it integrates smoothly into your IT infrastructure. To do so, please use the publicly accessible nameserver IP addresses and DoT/DoH subdomains.

How to use JusProgDNS Premium

We can issue invoices for the Premium service and also donation receipts, if that is more convenient for you. As a token of our appreciation, donors can receive Premium information upon request – naturally, this is only within the scope of our charitable status and provided that donations are used in accordance with our articles of association on a non-profit basis.

Incidentally, JusProgDNS is the only service of its kind available in Germany with legal recognition (under Section 11 of the JMStV) and is also operated by a non-profit association – we therefore have a unique selling point. This could simplify your administrative procedures, such as calls for tenders.

How much does JusProgDNS Premium (nameserver queries) cost?

JusProgDNS Premium is used to cover hardware costs. Based on our experience, we calculate these as follows:

  • Smaller school / organisation (up to 500,000 nameserver queries per month): 5 euros net per month
  • Medium-sized school / institution (500,000 – 1 million nameserver queries per month): 10 euros net per month
  • Larger school / institution (1 – 3 million nameserver queries per month): 20 euros net per month
  • Large school / institution (3–6 million nameserver queries per month, Wi-Fi security for children’s and young people’s own devices): 35 euros net per month
  • More than 6 million nameserver queries per month, or school authorities/public bodies with multiple schools/institutions: Please enter the number of schools in each size category on the form. If this does not apply, or if you wish to use our DoT/DoH service – for example, for iPads and tablets in home-schooling – please feel free to contact our support team.

We define a school or institution as having its own address (street/house number). However, in school complexes with several schools at a single address, each school is considered a separate institution.

We would ask you to classify your organisation fairly, even if, for example, you use JusProgDNS on devices for home-schooling, operate MDMs or use JusProgDNS for other purposes.

How much does JusProgDNS (as an MDM installation) with DoH cost on homeschooling devices?

Using JusProgDNS Premium on homeschooling devices requires significantly more server performance on our end. We therefore charge for homeschooling – e.g. using iPads or Android tablets in schools and other children’s and youth facilities – with DoH, based on the ‘https://doh12.jusprogdns.com/kindername.accountname.passcode’ model, per device:

  • €0.10 per month per homeschooling device (iPad or tablet per pupil)
  • Bookable in blocks of 500 devices or part thereof (€ 50)

Premium users receive a customised subdomain for DoH queries relating to the youth protection filter on iPads or Android tablets, which points to a separate, high-performance server cluster for the Premium service.

In your account at login.jusprogdns.com, you can combine the use of JusProgDNS Premium as a nameserver application (within the school or institution’s network) and for home-schooling on pupils’ devices (parental control filter on iPads, tablets, etc.) outside the school or institution’s network.

Prices for schools and charitable organisations only

The above prices for child protection software apply only to schools and charitable organisations. For commercial use, given our status as a charitable organisation, we must provide you with a cost-covering quote; please do not hesitate to contact us. In accordance with its articles of association, JusProgDNS may only be used for the purpose of child and youth protection, and not for securing corporate networks.

Please note: To keep our administrative costs within reasonable limits, a minimum invoice amount of 50 euros applies. Individual schools will therefore receive annual invoices, which are payable at the start of the billing period. We are happy to arrange invoicing arrangements with school authorities and similar bodies by mutual agreement. Even as a non-profit organisation, we are required to charge the amounts plus VAT at the applicable rate. Contract term: 12 months with automatic renewal unless notice of termination is given two months in advance (this corresponds to the contract terms we have for servers in the data centre).
