What is JusProgDNS?
JusProgDNS protects children and young people from online content that is unsuitable for minors. Protection is tailored to the child’s age and stage of development, with age groups starting from 0, 6, 12 or 16 years. Parents and administrators can also choose to allow or block specific websites.
JusProgDNS can be used on (almost) all devices, from computers and smartphones to broadband routers and games consoles, as well as on networks in schools, nurseries, libraries, residential care homes, etc.
It is free for private users. Schools and charitable organisations pay a contribution towards costs as ‘premium customers’.
How it works
JusProgDNS is based on what is known as ‘nameserver technology’ and redirects requests to websites unsuitable for minors to an information page (blocking page). However, when the JusProgDNS youth protection programme is in use, the harmful content cannot be accessed.
To protect minors from internet content that could be harmful to their development using JusProgDNS, the details of the JusProgDNS name server are entered into the end devices or network components in place of the usual name server – this is possible on almost all internet-connected devices. The JusProgDNS child protection filter is very quick and easy to install. A cross-device guide as well as step-by-step instructions for individual popular devices are available on this website.
