JusProgDNS Youth Protection for Schools

Digital education is becoming increasingly important for schools. It is not just since the launch of the Digital Pact for Schools that internet-enabled devices have been finding their way into schools. Whiteboards, tablets, smartphones and desktop computers have become an integral part of the classroom. But free Wi-Fi in the school playground is also taken for granted by many pupils – whether for studying and doing homework during free periods or for playing games, using WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram.

Schools that provide their pupils with internet access also bear a responsibility for the content that children and young people are exposed to on the worldwide web. JusProgDNS helps to open up the opportunities offered by the internet to minors whilst protecting them from its dangers.

Protection for any internet infrastructure in schools

JusProgDNS is a youth protection programme from JusProg e.V. that can be used by schools of all sizes and is compatible with virtually any infrastructure. Whether in a primary school with a Fritzbox and just a few computers in the classroom, or in a secondary school, grammar school or any other secondary institution with an extensive network and fibre-optic connection – the JusProgDNS internet filter is easy to install.

As the school’s network administrator, all you need to do is change the nameserver in the DSL box, router or network server, and minors will be protected straight away. You can select the age group that suits your school: from 6, from 12 or from 16 years of age. Once you have registered with JusProgDNS, you can also allow or block specific websites. To identify your school, you simply need to enter its static IP address or use our DynDNS service if you have a dynamic IP address.

Secure Homeschooling with MDM and JusProg

JusProgDNS can also be used for homeschooling with any of the pupils’ devices: iPads, Android tablets, Windows, Mac and Chromebooks. The devices are protected at all times by the JusProg internet parental control filter – on school premises, at home, at friends’ houses and in cafés.

Secure internet access for home schooling via MDM generally utilises our DoT and DoH solutions. With ‘Individual DoH URLs’ (iOS and other operating systems apart from Android) and ‘Individual DoT subdomains’ (Android), you can configure your own settings, such as adding additional domain entries to the allow/block lists. This also allocates and tracks name server access (quota), which is required for schools using the Premium service.

Our apps are also available for secure home schooling. Some of them include configuration files for setting up and rolling out via MDM (more on JusProg via MDM).

The JusProgDNS internet filter costs schools only a contribution towards costs

The protection of children and young people in schools must not be jeopardised by financial constraints and tight school budgets. That is why JusProg e.V. makes the JusProgDNS youth protection programme available to schools for a contribution towards server costs only.

JusProgDNS is funded by the members of the non-profit association JusProg e.V., including many well-known companies in the German internet sector.

JusProgDNS is free from advertising and adheres to strict data protection requirements. We only store data that is essential for the operation of the youth protection programme, and we immediately anonymise and aggregate browsing logs. No data is passed on to third parties by JusProg e.V.

Please register your school with JusProgDNS

Please register your school to use JusProgDNS at www.jusprogdns.com as a “school” in order to receive a sufficient usage quota (nameserver queries).

We may ask you to send us proof that you are using JusProgDNS at your school.

For identification purposes, please enter your school’s static IP address in your JusProg DNS account after registration, or (if, for example, you use a Fritzbox or other DSL router at your school) use our DynDNS service. If you use DoH / DoT, we do not require any IP addresses from you.
