JusProgDNS: a child protection programme for organisations

As an organisation, you can use JusProgDNS to protect children and young people who use the internet on your premises.

JusProgDNS is a nameserver-based child protection programme. The child protection filter can be set up in (almost) any network structure. All you need to do is replace the default nameserver in your router or network server with the JusProgDNS nameserver, and the protection is activated.

Organisations must register

Without registration, the browsing quota (nameserver queries per day) is limited to the number typically allowed for private households. As an organisation, we ask you to register at www.jusprogdns.com in order to receive a higher browsing quota.

Queries are identified via the IP address from which they are made. Please enter your static IP address in your JusProgDNS account or, if you have a dynamic IP address, use our DynDNS service.

JusProgDNS costs non-profit organisations only a nominal contribution towards costs

As a non-profit organisation, you can use JusProgDNS as a youth protection programme to safeguard children and young people as a so-called ‘Premium Customer’. JusProgDNS contains no advertising and only stores data to the extent necessary for its operation. Examples of non-profit organisations include:

  • Schools
  • Nursery schools
  • Youth centres
  • Residential groups
  • Libraries and bookshops
  • Museums

We may ask you to provide proof of your status.

JusProgDNS is primarily funded by contributions from its members, including well-known companies in the German internet sector.

Subject to a fee for commercial use

If you wish to use JusProgDNS in a commercial setting, you should expect to pay a fee for its use. Examples of usage subject to a fee:

  • Wi-Fi access points
  • Internet cafés
  • Public internet terminals in businesses
  • Hotels and restaurants
  • Retail outlets
  • Software integration, apps

Note: The JusProg filter list can also be accessed via an API for a fee, subject to a project being of a suitable size, and is made available under licence for the purpose of protecting children and young people.

JusProg e.V. is a non-profit association which does not seek to make a profit and is not permitted to do so; it can and wishes to offer its services solely for purposes set out in its articles of association. In a commercial context, fees must cover the association’s costs.

Not for use in corporate networks

JusProgDNS is neither suitable nor intended for use as a network filter in organisations where the majority of users are adults. The filter list is designed solely to protect children and young people online and is not suitable for blocking specific types (categories) of websites for employees. Use for this purpose is not permitted.
